Course Description:

“You’re so smart!”  Many of us happily accept this type of praise, but what happens when we don’t successfully complete an intellectual feat?  From an early age, many of us are trained in the fixed mindset, the belief that our abilities, personality, and intelligence cannot be changed.  Based on decades of research on performance and success, psychologist Carol Dweck has found that we actually have the power to shape our qualities through our mindset.  By cultivating a mindset of growth, we can teach ourselves and others to seek the learning, practice, and effort necessary to achieve in aspects of life that matter to us.  In this writing seminar, we will discuss and add to Dweck’s groundbreaking research on how business leaders, coaches, teachers, and parents can nurture a growth mindset, and how we as individuals can do the same for ourselves.
