Course Description: 

In this class, students will be introduced to human history and prehistory as it is studied by archaeologists. They will learn about the way archaeologists reconstruct the past and about various methodological and theoretical topics in the field. They will also be introduced to relevant issues in archaeology today, such as the need to collaborate with indigenous peoples, the international antiquities trade, and the popularity of pseudo-science to explain the past. By the end of the course, students will also have learned about a variety of ancient peoples and civilizations that they may never have heard about before
