About Penn Summer Abroad

Penn Summer Abroad programs are faculty-led and offer undergraduate courses that are taught abroad during the summer for Penn credit. The programs are sponsored by departments in the School of Arts and Sciences and administered by Penn’s College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS). Participants include students from all the undergraduate schools at Penn. Most of the programs also welcome students from other universities.

Summer transfer credit for a non-Penn program

Penn undergraduates wishing to receive credit for participating in a non-Penn program during the summer must obtain approval in advance from the relevant department and apply for credit away using the External Course Approval Tool (XCAT).

If the program you are applying to requires any signatures from Penn, these should be obtained from your home school advising office.

For study abroad during a semester or academic year, visit Penn Abroad.
