Courses Submitted for Curriculum Committee Review
Curriculum Committee Review Timeline

All new courses numbered below 600 proposed by departments and programs in the School of Arts and Sciences must be reviewed by the SAS Curriculum Committee and approved by the SAS Faculty. In addition, the Curriculum Committee reviews for faculty approval changes to existing courses. A member of the SAS Standing Faculty may offer a course on an experimental basis one time without SAS Faculty approval, but it must be approved before it may be given again.

  • If you are requesting approval for any of the following:

adding a new course

changing a course description or course format (e.g., Distance Learning Courses)

re-approving an inactive course

proposing a course for the Quantitative Data Analysis Requirement

please click here for the long form. Fill in all the fields and submit it electronically using the "button" at the bottom of the form. Simultaneously, submit fourteen (14) hard copies of the syllabus to:

If the instructor of the course is not a member of the SAS Standing Faculty, please include (14) hard copies of his or her Curriculum Vitae along with the syllabi.

For a cross-listed course, the primary department must write to the Curriculum Committee to indicate approval. Email may be sent to Stephanie Jones (stephanr@sas). Please coordinate with the secondary department.
