KOREAN ETHNICITY IN ART
This project is an attempt to explore how Korean ethnic identity is expressed through art. Examining the work of a Korean modern artist, Park Soo Keun and creating my own body of work revealed the ambiguity of cultural categories that are often defined on ethnic terms. My final piece is an attempt to express the complex and transitory nature of my identity as a Korean American. It is titled Skin to suggest the superficiality of both the images themselves and the cultural identity often embedded in our own skin.
