UNTITLED, 2005-6

In today’s increasingly visual culture, how we view ourselves and the world around us are greatly influenced by what is placed in our field of vision. Unfortunately, much of what we see does not speak the truth. Through the silkscreen printing process, I was able to create this juxtaposition of repeated imagery from North Korea. In this work I want to challenge what we see and what we fail to see, due to our own apathy, willing blindness, and/or the influence of propaganda that surrounds us and people around the world. I want to influence through the visual sense a heightened understanding and awareness of the need to seek truth and justice in knowledge and through action.
