SMART TECHNOLOGY AND THE TRANSFORMATION OF HOME

The development of Smart Home products and technology has been growing at an exponential rate over the past decade and is becoming accessible to all levels of consumers. Over the next decade there is the potential for a vast technological revolution that will transform our homes and private spaces. However, in a world increasingly devoid of privacy we must be aware of the impacts constant monitoring technology will have on our private and intimate home spaces. The next decade will determine how this smart home technology will change our way of interacting with our private spaces. Designers from a vast variety of backgrounds will be largely responsible for how these products will shape our spaces in the future and can pursue a number of paths, all of which will create a smart home environment unlike anything we have seen.
