I am on campus typically from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday - Friday, but am often working around campus, at different locations. Email is best to reach me, yet my office phone forwards to my cell when I am not there. SMS text if it is urgent and you have my digits.

Who am I?

I am the IT Project Leader for Public Computing within Penn Arts & Sciences. In other words, I am responsible for supporting classroom, lab, and kiosk computers across campus. If you have general computing support questions or issues, check out the main SAS Computing page HERE

People may know me from my former positions at Penn, which some remember me as the "computer guy" in Multimedia Services, formerly known as "MMETS," or from my time as a support provider for the Social Sciences within McNeil Building. I have been with the University for over 11 years.

My areas of expertise are supporting multi-user client computing environments, mainly Mac and Windows PCs, as well as adminstering the backend servers that facilitate Public Computing and Instructional Technology needs.

What do I really do here?

I try to develop best practices and standards for managing the computers we are responsible for. I encourage using simple, reliable, and centralized management tools and techniques, most of which are freely (or inexpensively) available and help to improve the efficiency of supporting large numbers of systems with a relatively small staff and relatively low cost.

I manage a small group of excellent staff who allocate some of their time from their normal end-user support duties to the ongoing support of public computing systems.

I coordinate with staff and deparments across the University in an ongoing effort to provide a uniform, reliable, and pleasant experience for faculty and students when they engage with technology in the classroom.

Where am I located?

My new, new office is located on the 4th floor of Williams Hall, room 441A, within the Language Resource Center.

As I make my rounds, I try to introduce myself, so if you encounter me, feel free to say 'Hi!' I don't bite, and chances are I can help you with your computer problems.

:)
