Student Initiative Committee
Members: Jon Kole (chair), Jessica Rosenbaum, Elizabeth Song, Todd Rubin

Objectives:
• Civic Engagement minor creation
     - We are gauging student and faculty interest in the creation of a minor focused on community service and public advocacy. Our ideal framework will include ABCS courses to put problem solving into practice, Ideas in Action courses to develop insights into public policy, and an array of courses drawn from departments like Urban Studies, Legal Studies, Sociology, and Political Science. We are eliciting support from campus community service groups as well.
• BFS Modification
      - We are examining the option to modify the Benjamin Franklin Scholars program to increase the rigor and possibly develop a Capstone project.
• Cross-Dept Charity
      - With an array of departments in the College, we are interested in the possibility of promoting a collaborative fund raiser to improve College unity and help a specific cause (ie meningitis research considering the tragedy of Anne Ryan of 2010).

Academic Committee
Members: Joshua Kay (chair), Ben Kaufman, Fan Zhou, Elie Gittler

Objectives:
• Creating a list of courses in all 4 schools suitable for students in the College that will help them make the most of their academic and college experience
• Finalizing the last phase of the Budgeting, Finance, Leadership, and Teamwork (B-FLAT minor) that will be administered by the Fels Institute of Government
      - Last year the DAB found that many College students felt the need for a program that would furnish certain practical skills, such as budgeting and finances, leadership and teamwork (hence B-FLAT)
      - The minor will teach the B-FLAT skills from a liberal-arts perspective, and with a public/non-profit sector slant
      - One class is already being offered for the minor
GAFL 180-001 Budgeting and Financial Management for Governments and Nonprofits
It will be a core requirement and will count for the minor when it is approved
• Currently looking at reforming the pass/fail policy
• Exploring the possibility of implementing a Journalism and Dance program
• Exploring possible changes to the Pass/Fail policies
      - Potential to use pass/fail courses to fulfill requirements? Writing seminars? Freshman seminars?
• Finding a way to improve the Penn In Touch system
      - More advanced search features [by timeslot and requirement] and updated worksheet capabilities

Outreach Committee
Members: Ami Patel (chair), Terence Huang, Michael Kind, Ava Childers

Objectives:
• Booklet that will incorporate important facts that every educated and cultured college student should know. In addition, it will include a survival guide for all students, relating to all areas of the College
• Coordinating year-long PR campaign to increase awareness of DAB and gain student input on College issues
     - Improving and maintaining DAB website
     - Organizing focus groups with College students
     - Organizing social events within the DAB
     - Conducting surveys
-Conducted Locust Walk survey initiative to gain student input on key College issues, such as academic offerings
