Lecturer in Art
History, University of

Drink
Coca-Cola,
even though you can’t get a bottle for 5¢ these days.
I
am a historian of modern architecture and urbanism between 1850 and 1970. I principally
concentrate on France between about 1889 and 1914,
but
more broadly I’m interested in Western Europe and North America, though not
exclusively. My work most specifically focuses on the
Art
Nouveau architecture of the city of Nancy, France, between 1895 and 1914. This
is the subject of my Ph.D. dissertation
in
the History of Art at the University of Pennsylvania, which I completed in
November 2011. Currently, I’m a lecturer in
Art
History at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville for the academic year
2011-12.
I’m
proud to have been born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. I graduated from Emory University
in Atlanta, Georgia (aka "The Coca-Cola School"), in 2005 before
matriculating to Penn.
I'm
married to Christina Hansen, who's originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but
grew up in Lexington, Kentucky.
She's
put together this groovy set of pages about our wedding.
