BACKGROUND INFORMATION

I first visited the 25,000 ha cattle ranch in May 1996 when it was owned by Pilagá S.A.  The choice of the ranch was not fortuitous, I knew that two Argentinean Biologists, Sandra Arditi and Guillermo Placci, had worked there in the past studying owl monkeys and the structure of the forest. 
Between May 1997 and April 2003 I worked in the ranch thanks to the on-site support of Mr. Gerardo Berger and Mr. Emilio Araúz and the support of Mr. John Adams and Ing. Bellocq from the company offices in Buenos Aires.
Since 2003 the ranch is administered by Administraciones Agropecuarias Bellamar S.A. with whom we have developed institutional agreements to continue our work.  Since then, we have continued to work in the ranch with the support of the on-site manager Mr. Federico Middleton, and the CEO of the company Ing. Conrado Cimino.
