Information
- There will be a 10 minutes weekly quiz administered at the end of each
recitation
(starting from Monday, January 27th). The
quiz will contain
one or two exercises pertaining to the material covered in
lecture/recitation. Quizzes contribute a 20% to the final grade.
In the 20% computation, note that the lowest quiz grade will be dropped.
Therefore, make-up quizzes will not be permitted under any
cirmcumstance.
- Homework problems for each chapter can be found on the professor's
website. Eventhough the homeworks are not collected for grading, you
should work on them systematically in order to stay abreast with the
material and as a consequence perform better on exams and quizzes.
Work Requirements
- Any work that you hand in should be written on clean
paper with non-ragged margins, and stapled.
- Solutions to quizzes should be well-organized and comprehensible.
(Ideally, you
should still be able to understand your work years after having written
it.)
- Unjustified work will be worth very little credit.
Other works which do not satisfy the above-mentionned
conditions, will be penalized or eventually refused.
Please read this site about work
aesthetics.
Exams
There will be 3 midterm exams and one final.
1st midterm: Thursday, February 14, during class time
2nd midterm: Thursday, March 27, during class time
3rd midterm: Thursday, April 24, during class time
Final : Friday, May 11, room and time to be assigned
The final grade is computed as follows: the three midterms count for 40%,
the final counts for 40%, and in-class-quizzes count for
20%.
