Photometric Supernova Identifier (pSNid)
pSNid
is a software package used to identify/classify supernovae through
tempaltes fitting using various statistical techniques. There are
two version, pSNid II and pSNid III.
pSNid II was written on top of Masao Sako's
pSNid package used to classify supernovae in SDSS II. pSNid II
expanded in many ways: templates could be read through FITS or ASCII
files, candidates could be read through either an ASCII file or online
database, supernovae could be classified not only through traditional
fitting but using color, etc.
Most of the fitting/marginalization was done using grid searches,
which required the many parameters of the grid to be tuned.
pSNid
III is almost a complete re-write of pSNid II. The grid search
method is replace with a Monte Carlo integration method, MultiNest, which requires little or no tuning. Also, the user interface is simplified and there are a few bug fixes...
