Enhancing the Learning and Teaching in a High School Science Classroom Though the Use of the Internet and Computer Technology. Leslie C. Anderson, 2002, Honors Chemistry and Forensic Science, East Brunswick High School, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.

To enhance the learning and teaching in a high school science classroom new approaches for the utilization of technology were implemented.  To provide access to specific information, a web site was created.  Other computer technology was utilized to create a more effective classroom and assist students in preparing for class.  Several methods, including the use of the Internet, classroom computers, and students' personal computers, were investigated to help make the classroom environment more efficient and more student-directed while still having instructor guidance.  As the students used the web site and computer directed sources, they were surveyed as to what was beneficial and where improvements should be made.  Based on the results of previous years, material was learned more quickly and completely and more time was available for labs and investigation activities.  Using computers and computer technology, a classroom could have more direct student input and be more efficient and effective.
