Investigating the synthesis of chiral bisanthraquinone natural products, such as trachypone, bislunatin, and skyrin. Key steps include the generation of a versatile bisnaphthoquinone intermediate through asymmetric oxidative biaryl coupling and oxidation to the bisnaphthoquinone. Regioselective Diels-Alder reactions then provide the desired bisanthraquinone core.
