I designed and implemented an online system of databases
to collect information on more than 300 institutions, 100 journals,
and 5,000 individuals involved in the history of science. I continue
to supervise the annual update of this resource, which is used over ten
thousand times per year.

Presented January 13th, 2004 at the Presidential History
Symposium during the 2004 AMS Meeting in Seattle. This paper explores
the interactions between Rossby, the Guggenheim Fund for Aeronautics,
and the forecasting needs of the emerging commercial aviation industry
in the late 1920s.

Presented in early May, 2002 to the Columbia History
of Science Group weekly seminar, discussing the biographical background
of cloud seeders in the 1950s and 1960s.

Feminist Harangues are Making Science Class Cool." Santa Fe Institute.
Presented early August, 1999 at the Sante Fe Institute.
Used feminist critiques of science education to explore the effectiveness
of teaching strategies employed during SFI's summer teachers' workshop.

"The
Seeds of Distrust: Emotional Knowledge and the Rejection of an Environmental
Technology."
Honors thesis exploring the political, legal and social
ramifications of hail suppression attempts in central Pennsylvania (early
1960s) and western Kansas (late 1990s). Based upon court records, newspaper
accounts, scientific documents, and interviews with farmers, cloud seeders,
and water managers in western Kansas. Funded by a $3900 Royce Fellowship
from Brown University, 1999-2001.
"The
'Roots' of English Culinary Culture."
A practical exploration of Medieval English cooking
activities and nutritional attitudes. Spring 2001, funded by a $200
Research at Brown grant. Culminated in a presentation and sampling of
medieval food open to the campus.

oversaw complete Web Site overhaul and resulting 64% increase in visits,
fulfilled media requests (including NY Times science section, AP,
LA Times), designed HSS's first web usage survey, and assisted
with meeting management for a 2700 member international organization.
Contributed to successful $125,000 NEH Challenge Grant proposal.

Media Center.

Primary scriptwriter and onscreen host for "Raise

Founded
the Science Studies Undergraduate Group, Brown University, 2000.
In the Group's first year, I organized a thesis presentation
session, an event promoting science studies as a major, and a video
screening followed by a moderated discussion regarding the portrayal
of illness in film. I also arranged for someone to take over the group
when I graduated.
