Professor Adriana Petryna Named 2019 Guggenheim Fellow

The department is excited to announce that Adriana Petryna, Edmund J. and Louise W. Kahn Term Professor in Penn Anthropology, has been named a 2019 Guggenheim Fellow by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Fellowships were awarded to a diverse group of 168 scholars, artists, and writers from a pool of almost 3,000 applicants from the U.S. and Canada, appointed on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise. Professor Petryna plans to complete a manuscript about abrupt environmental shifts and the challenges facing emergency response, especially to wildfire.
