Nu Rho Psi Honors Society
Nu Rho Psi is the National Honor Society in Neuroscience, founded in 2006 by the Faculty of Neuroscience. The Society has two primary goals. Its first purpose is to encourage professional interest and excellence in scholarship, particularly in neuroscience. This aim involves awarding recognition to students who achieve such excellence, advancing the discipline of neuroscience through dedication to research, and promoting career development in neuroscience via interaction between students, faculty, and professionals in the field. The Society’s second goal is to encourage community service, primarily in a manner that increases public awareness of neuroscience and its benefits for individuals and society as a whole.
Penn’s Chapter of Nu Rho Psi similarly strives to promote neuroscience scholarship and service. The Society is comprised of students who demonstrate a strong commitment to neuroscience in coursework and independent research as well as an enthusiasm to share their knowledge and passion through service to the community. Nu Rho Psi members serve the Penn community by hosting various information sessions, presenting original research, and serving as MAP advisors in the BBB and Biology majors. Penn’s chapter also engages with the greater Philadelphia community through service events like KidsJudge and the Philadelphia Science Festival with the support of Penn’s neuroscience graduate students.
