Configure PennO365 for Android Devices

Android users can use either the built-in mail and calendar apps to configure their devices for PennO365 email and calendar or Microsoft's Outlook for Android client.

The appearance of your Android may vary, so please use these steps as a guide or consult the manufacturer’s help for your particular device.

Android mail app for PennO365

You can configure your Android device’s built-in mail and calendaring applications by using automatic or manual set-up. We recommend running the automatic set up first, and use manual set up if you are unable to connect to your PennO365 account.

To configure your Android device using automatic set up:

  1. Tap Settings>Accounts>Add account>Email (This app may also be named Mail.). If you see another screen with types of email accounts, choose Corporate.

  2. Fill in the email and password fields:

  • Email address: Your PennO365 Account Name (e.g., not ).

  • Password: Your PennO365 password. This is the password that you established when you activated your PennO365 account. If you do not remember your password, go here to learn about resetting your password.

  • Tap Next.

  • Select Exchange. (Your device may skip straight to Step 6.)

  • You may receive a message about additional security features. Select OK to continue.

  • Once the Account Options page opens, accept the defaults or select the options for how you want to receive and send your mail, and then tap Next. (You may need to scroll down to see Next.)

  • On the Set up email page you can change the name of your account.

  • Tap Done.

  • Manual configuration

    If you still can't connect after automatic set up, you can try manual configuration.

    To configure your device manually:

    1. Tap Settings>Accounts>Add account>Email. This app might be named Mail on some versions of Android.

    2. Fill in the email and password fields:

    • Email address: Your full email address (e.g.  ).

    • Password: Your PennO365 password. This is the password that you established when you activated your PennO365 account. If you do not remember your password, go here to learn about resetting your password.

  • Tap Next.

  • Select Manual and choose Exchange. (In some versions you may not need to choose Exchange.)

  • On the Exchange server settings screen, review your settings and update if necessary.

    • Email: Your Full SAS email address (e.g. ).

    • Domain/Username: Enter your PennO365 Account Name (e.g.,  not  ).

    • If Domain and Username appear as separate fields in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty, and enter your PennO365 Account Name (e.g.,  not  ) in the Username box.

    • Password: Your PennO365 password. This is the password that you established when you activated your PennO365 account. 

    • Exchange Server: outlook.office365.com.

    • Use secure connection: Selected

  • Tap Done, you may need to scroll to the bottom of the screen.
  • You may receive a message about additional security features. Select OK to continue.

  • Accept the defaults or make changes for how you want your account to sync on your device, and tap Next

  • On the Set up email page, you can change the name of your account. When you're finished, tap Done/Next.

  • Your calendar should sync automatically.

  • Microsoft Exchange for Android

     

    Outlook for Android

    By using the Outlook for Android app, you can access your email, calendar, contacts, and OneDrive files from within the app rather than having to check separate apps. At the moment, you cannot access tasks from the Outlook for Android app.

    Keep in mind that Outlook for Android requires a device running Android 4.0 or later.

    To set up Outlook for Android to check your PennO365 account:

    1. Download the Outlook for Android app from the Google Play store if you haven't done so already.
    2. Once the app is installed, or if you already have it installed, open it and then depending on your device, tap the navigation control at the bottom of your Android smartphone or tablet, or tap More>Settings>Add Account.
    3. On the Add An Account screen select O365.
    4. Fill in the email and password fields:
      • Email Address: Enter your PennO365 Account Name (e.g.,  not  ).
      • Password: Your PennO365 password. This is the password that you established when you activated your PennO365 account.  If you do not remember your password, go here to learn about resetting your password.
    5. Tap Sign In.
    6. If prompted, select Yes or Accept to let the app access your info. Once complete, Outlook for Android will start syncing.
