About Us

Digital Partnerships with Indian Communities (DPIC), directed by Dr. Timothy B. Powell, is dedicated to enabling students to participate in on-going research projects undertaken in collaboration with Native American communities.  DPIC explores how indigenous knowledge systems can deepen academic forms of understanding and how digital technology can be used to revitalize American Indian culture and language in ways that empower these communities.

We honor the American Indian wisdom-keepers who have so generously contributed to this site and given their permission to share these materials with students.  DPIC also thanks the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Arts and Sciences IT department for supporting the site, Penn Cultural Heritage Center, Center for Native American Studies, Penn Museum, American Philosophical Society, Minnesota Historical Society, all of which have made valued contributions to the project.
