Part-time program assistants are student workers who staff our Student Center or provide administrative support to various ELP programs. As familiarity with the campus is extremely helpful, most program assistants are Penn students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Description: The Advising Specialist will schedule all Intensive Program students and advise them on their schedules. The position will also provide advising for IP students who are not university-bound, and provide advising for Penn matriculated students identified with language needs. The Specialist monitors attendance and probation of IP students and takes corrective action. This position will teach in ELP programs.
Qualifications:Required: Masters in TESOL or related field. Minimum of 3 years experience teaching English for academic purposes. Experience advising international students. Familiarity with instructional and administrative technologies; ability to work as part of a team; ability to engage positively in challenging discussions with students.
Preferred: Experience scheduling students into classes; knowledge of a foreign language; experience living and working abroad.
