Students Who Have Studied French in High School

  • Once you complete the online placement exam, please enroll in the course that corresponds with your score.
  • Students in the College of Arts and Sciences have the option of moving up one level from their online placement score. Permission is not needed. The exception is French 0400. Students are not allowed to place themselves up to the Advanced French level. This can only be done by examination.
  • Wharton, Nursing, Engineering, and LPS students who are interested in moving up one level from their online placement score, must receive permission from the French course coordinator and take the course for a letter grade. (For example, if you are placed into French 0300, but are considering French 0400, please speak with the French 0400 coordinator.)
  • Students are not allowed to move down from their placement level. Attend the course you placed into at the beginning of the semester. If, after a week, you feel an exception should be made in your case, contact the French Language Program Director.
  • If you are placed into French 0400, please note that you cannot move up or down from your placement score.
