SAS Earth Day Bartram's Garden Clean-Up 2018

Over 25 SAS volunteers came out on 4/27 to participate in a clean-up of the Schuylkill River at Bartram's Garden in conjunction with United by Blue. This is the best turn out we've had for an Earth Day event and we helped pick up more than 1,200 pounds of trash from around the Garden. A big thank you to all of our volunteers who were able to participate!

Rethink Your Footprint 2017

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 2017 Rethink Your Footprint SAS Recycling & Game Fair!  We had a great time educating you all on recycling and playing the SAS Recycling Game together. This year we were able to collect and donate 54 pounds of linens and towels to the SPCA, 18 pounds of shoes to Community Recycling, and 16 pairs of glasses to VSP Global. 794 pounds of electronic-waste was collected for recycling. Special thanks to the SAS Green team's support in this initiative. We are hoping to continue these donations in the future!

Earth Day & National Volunteer Week Event Clean-Up at Clark Park

SAS Sustainability would like to thank everyone who came out for the 2017 Earth Day and National Volunteer Week Clean-up at Clark Park. Our volunteer's enthusiasm helped to make this a successful event as they swept up debris and collected 14 bags of litter from the park. We hope to see you all again for next year’s event!

SPCA Donation

Today we were able to donate to SPCA our 67.5 pounds of linens and t-shirts collected during the Recycling Fair! Special thanks to Amanda and Daisy the dog at SPCA for making us feel welcome, Carvel Camp for his photography and transportation, and the to SAS Green Green team's support in this initiative. We are hoping to continue these donations in the future!

ReThink Your Footprint

ReThink Your Footprint  will be held this year from November 1st-11th! All members of the University are encourage to participate in this campaign; the SAS Green Team has several events they are planning with more details to come! Earth Day Green Tour Earth Day Extravaganza

Festivities start at 2:30pm. We will meet at Hayden Hall (240 s. 33rdStreet) and do a walking tour of the campus with our expert tour guides who can talk about the sustainability initiatives that have been implemented on campus. The tour will end at the Steven A Levin lobby (425 S. University Avenue) with catering and vendors who support green and environmental initiatives in our community.Also as a part of SAS Earth Day we are rolling out our new recycling and landfill bins at Chemistry in conjunction with the new desk-side recycling only campaign!

Power Down Challenge

Monday 2/1 will kick-off the 2016 Power Down Challenge hosted by Green Campus Partnership. Power Down Challenge will be run as a month-long energy reduction campaign, with a 24-hour campus wide energy reduction day on Wednesday, February 24th. Throughout the month of February education events and programs about energy consumption, reduction, and innovation will be hosted.

Earth Day 2015

SAS Sustainability would like to thank everyone who came out for the 2015 Earth Day Tour of the Big Green Block. Participants were able to tour the 7 acre site which included tree trenches, pervious pavement, and rain water gardens with a tour guide from the Fairmount Water Works. Hope to see you all again for next years event!

Power Down Challenge 2015

Monday 2/2 was the Kick-Off of the 2015 Power Down Challenge hosted by Green Campus Partnership. This year Claudia Cohen Hall is representing SAS in the competition and is up against eight other buildings across campus. Energy usage is compared using percent reduction in average daily kWh usage and reduction in average daily kWh use per square foot.
