Crises and Contemporary Epistemologies

The interests of this group emanate from a broad and inclusive understanding of the term "crises". We do not wish to evoke (exclusively) the economic crisis that hit the western world in 2008, but also other crises which preceded that one, or even potential crises that are yet to come. With the term "crises" we want to emphasize plurality, and our scope goes beyond the political and economic (neoliberal) spheres to include crises in representation, in authority, in the system as a whole. It is this conceptualization of "crises" as a sort of umbrella term that has led us to the exploration of contemporary epistemologies. In this vein, our group proposes, reads and discusses a variety of theoretical and philosophical texts that touch in a way or another upon these preoccupations. We meet regularly every two weeks and our readings are usually selected after new questions arise during a meeting. Everyone is welcome to participate in the discussions and suggest new readings.
