María was born in San Juan and has lived there for most of her life with the exception of eight childhood years spent in Washington D.C. She graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. She’s interested in memory, trauma and the diseased body within contemporary Latin American and Caribbean literature.
