Monica Veiga was born in Santiago de Compostela, where she obtained a BA in English Studies. After pursuing an MA in International Economy at the University of Barcelona and getting some teaching experience in Spain, Monica came to the United States to get an MA in Spanish and Portuguese Literature at the University of Kansas, where she also taught three courses. Her research interests include the study of the impact of economic factors in national identity, with a focus on marginalized cultures, and its depiction in alternative cultural manifestations.
