Section 301 - SEM
ITAL 691: Italian Teaching and Learning and Second Language Development Italian 691 is a Second Language Development course dedicated to the teaching and learning of Italian Language and Culture. In this course, we will not only explore approaches to teaching Language and Culture, but also reflect upon our own, and others’, experiences as students and instructors of (Italian) language and culture. With the University of Pennsylvania Italian Studies Undergraduate Curriculum as our focal point, we will study curricula, materials, lesson plans, classroom management, how to grow and maintain courses and programs, etc. We will put into practice what we observe and study by creating and using original materials, while considering their efficacy and ways to render them as inclusive, multi-disciplinary, and effective as possible. We will also focus our attention on best practices in the use of technology to enhance learner experiences and outcomes.
