Association for Asian Studies (AAS) selected Eugene Y. Park to receive this year’s F. Hilary Conroy Award for organizing his panel “Disability in Early Modern East Asia: Case Studies from China, Japan, and Korea, ca 1500-1870.” The Conroy Award was recently initiated to honor Prof. F. Hilary Conroy, outstanding scholar of Japan, Northeast Asia and Asian American history at the University of Pennsylvania from 1951 to 1990. The award recognizes academic excellence of the panel with subject areas that are grounded in Northeast Asia but that are genuinely transnational and extend beyond one nation. Along with Hyun Jae Yoo, the Kim Program's visiting scholar, and other panelists, Park will be presenting this panel at the AAS meeting this coming spring.
