Dear Friends,

I hope you and your family are doing well in these challenging times. We will get through this crisis together. Staying at home, I am thinking more and more about all the support and interest that the James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies has received this academic year. This is also the time to celebrate this years’ accomplishments and plan for the next year, although our academic calendar has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. As a way to thank you all, especially remotely, we have prepared a short report highlighting the major activities and new initiatives in which the Kim Program was engaged throughout the 2019-20 academic year. We had a busy year with several new events and programs promoting Korean Studies in the Penn community and beyond. In the report, you can meet our staff, executive committee, the Moon Family Postdoctoral Fellows, and many collaborators who have contributed to expanding and deepening the missions of the Kim Program. You are also introduced to new members who are eager to be involved in the Kim Program next year.

On behalf of the Kim Program, I am so grateful for your continued support and interest. We look forward to meeting with you in person soon.

Stay healthy and safe!

Hyunjoon Park
Director, the Kim Program in Korean Studies
