LALS - Various Hispanic Heritage Month Events

The Latino American and Latino Studies Program has had an eventful Hispanic Heritage Month! Pictured on the right, LALS graduate students, as well as a Penn professor and doctor, participated in, "Ni una más," raising awareness of violence against women in Latin America.

Other events have included a discussion with Dr. Michael Jones-Correa, Philadelphia Councilwoman Maria D. Quinones-Sanchez, Obed Arango Hisijara, and Alexa Salas about issues concerning the Latino constituency, followed by a debate watch party. Other LALS students had the opportunity to attend The Pan American Association of Philadelphia's annual membership meeting with the Mexican secretary of foreign affairs. Students also enjoyed the first of our LALSIS seminars, as well as a trip to the Mexican Modernism Exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
