Tuition and Fees

Young Scholars Program tuition and fees

Students who attend a City of Philadelphia public high school or charter high school may attend one course tuition-free in the spring and fall semesters through the Young Scholars Program. This opportunity is limited to one undergraduate-level, College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) course per semester. Available courses are listed in the course guide.

Students who are home schooled, enrolled in private schools or enrolled in public schools other than those officially under the jurisdiction of the School District of Philadelphia will be billed for tuition in the same manner as all other nondegree undergraduate students at the College of Liberal and Professional Studies. The rate of tuition is based upon the number of course units taken and the division of the University in which they are taken.

All students (regardless of semester or school district) are responsible for any other fees associated with attending the College of Liberal and Professional Studies. These fees may include books, laboratory fees, course materials, etc.

Your tuition at the University of Pennsylvania is calculated at a per course unit (c.u.) rate* based on the program you choose and the number of course units for which you register unless otherwise indicated. The rates listed below will be effective fall 2018 through spring 2019.

All tuition and fee charges are subject to the approval of the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and may change without notice.

*Academic credit (PDF) is defined by the University of Pennsylvania as a course unit (c.u.). A course unit (c.u.) is a general measure of academic work over a period of time, typically a term (semester or summer). A c.u. (or a fraction of a c.u.) represents different types of academic work across different types of academic programs and is the basic unit of progress toward a degree. One c.u. is usually converted to a four-semester-hour course.
