Course Description: 

For more than 100 years, educators have been striving to build an environmentally literate society. This course introduces the philosophical, historical, theoretical, and methodological processes of the environmental education movement, tracing its roots from 19th century nature study to newest trends.  Topics include the field's goals and objectives, its broad literature, controversies in the field, obstacles to environmental literacy, and practice in hands-on instruction.  Visits from EE practitioners and visits to an EE center are included.
