This symposium is part of the Wilma Theater's production of "9 Parts of Desire" by Iraqi-American playwright, Heather Raffo. This tour de force one-woman performance of the lives of Iraqi women was nominated for the Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel awards. The symposium will follow the matinee performance on February 19th. The show plays from February 1 to March 12. The symposium is free and open to the public.

The symposium features the following guests:
Sinan Antoon, an Iraqi-born poet, novelist, translator, and co-director of the documentary, "About Baghdad," based on his first visit back froma 20-year exile in June 2003. Sinan is also Professor of Arabic Literature and Culture at New York University.

Trudy Rubin, foreign affairs columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and author of Willful Blindness: The Bush Administration and Iraq.

Kate Saxon, artistic director of "9 Parts of Desire."
