Economics and Politics in the Middle East Peace Process

The lecture will describe the special and unusual nature of economic relations between Palestine and Israel since 1967. It will analyze the role of the economic element in the peace process as reflected in the Oslo Agreement and in the political developments since then. It will summarize the actual special economic aspects of the major political issues pending in  the present  negotiations and will suggest possible solutions.

Jimmy Weinblatt is a professor of economics at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, currently focusing on macroeconomic characteristics of the Palestinian economy and on problems of economic development and trade.
