'Toppling" Saddam Hussein in London: Media, Meaning, and the Construction of an Iraqi Diasporic Community
Presenter: Zainab Saleh, Assistant Professor in Anthropology, Haverford College
Location: McNeil Building Room 395, 3718 Locust Walk, Philadelphia, PA

This talk given by Dr. Saleh interrogates the reaction of Iraqis in London to the live coverage of the fall of Saddam Hussein's statue during the 2003 US occupation of Iraq. She argues that the fall of the statue transformed the Iraqi communities in London from excilic ones into a single diasporic community.
