The Middle East Center is announcing a scholarship competition to attend the Middle East Outreach Council's Teacher's Workshop to be held in conjunction with the Middle East Studies Association Annual Conference on November 20, 2010 in San Diego, California.  Details about the Workshop are below and the application can be found here

What: K-16 educators' workshop "Continuity and Change in Iran" (6 hours of professional development credit)

When: Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9:00-3:00, including a working lunch Where: San Diego State University

How Much: $20 early-bird registration (if received by Oct. 30), $25 late registration (Nov. 2-15). Lunch is included, and a limited number of parking permits are available.

Description: The workshop, co-sponsored by the Middle East Outreach Council, San Diego State University's International Studies Education Project, and the University of Arizona's Center for Middle Eastern Studies, will provide teachers and pre-service teachers with information about Iran. Whole-group morning sessions will provide an overview of Iranian history, culture, religions, and languages and information on teaching resources. The working lunch will be a time for networking and examining/discussing teaching materials. One afternoon session will be split according to area of interest (literature or social studies); another will be split according to grade level (primary, secondary/post-secondary). All attendees will receive a resource packet, lunch, and a certificate for 6 hours of professional development credit.
