Mbarek Sryfi

Lecturer in Foreign Languages


Mbarek Sryfi joined the University of Pennsylvania in 2004, previously he has taught at Mercer County Community College (New Jersey), and Morocco.  He is currently a Lecturer in Foreign Languages and Ph.D. student in Arabic Literature and Islamic Studies, both housed in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations here at Penn.

  • Co-translation of Hassan Najmi’s poetry with  Eric Sellin, (Metamorphoses a journal of literary translation, forthcoming Spring 2011)
  • Contribution to Perspectives - Arabic Language and Culture in Film (Alucen Learning, 2009)
  • Co-translation of Mohammad Zifzaf’s short stories with Roger Allen, (CELAAN, Summer 2008)
