Bina Brody is pursuing a dual PhD in ethnomusicology and linguistic anthropology, investigating the intersections between language and music, in relationship to lyrics and performance. She is currently centering her research on code-switching within music, as well as traditional dance and music in Senegal. Her investigation of voice in performance seeks to uncover the ways in which language is significant  for the negotiation of identity among migrants. Her M.A. research focused on the musical performances of African immigrants in Tel Aviv and their interaction with local audiences.
