Daniel Shapiro

The music of Daniel Shapiro (b. 1985) has been described alternately as "...embracing the unknown..." and "Stravinsky on crack" (Philadelphia Inquirer). Commissioning organizations include Music from Angel Fire, Darmstadt Staatsorchester, Network for New Music, Eastman Chorale, and Curtis 20/21. His music has been heard at venues including Lincoln Center, on the Ravinia "Rising Stars" Series, and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Daniel is the Composition Coordinator and serves on the Musical Studies Faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music (Composition '11). He is currently a Benjamin Franklin Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. His music is recorded on Darling Records (Cologne, DE).
