Ninth Year Graduate Student in Ethnomusicology
Room 103, Music Building

My primary interests involve intersections among environmentalism, ecology, nature, and musical practice. My research has generally focused on popular musicians and the ways they mobilize their influence to raise awareness about environmental issues. I am also interested in how the concept of nature figures as a prominent crucible for the construction of various (often overlapping) identities, be them 'local,' 'regional,' 'national' or 'global.' Geographically, I generally focus on north European countries in the Nordic/Scandinavian region. Future research interests include the relationship between eco-tourism and musical practice in Reykjavic, Iceland.
