BRAZILIAN SAMBA ENSEMBLE

Students interested in the Brazilian Samba Ensemble should contact the music director, Mike Stevens: sambafreak13@gmail.com. The first session will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019 in Irvine Auditorium, 3401 Spruce Street. No audition is required.  

 

MARIAN ANDERSON PERFORMANCE PROGRAM (MUSIC 10)

PENN ARAB MUSIC ENSEMBLE

Students interested in the Arab Music Ensemble should attend the first session on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 6pm in the Lerner Center (Music Dept.), 201 S. 34th Street. No audition is required.

 

PENN BAROQUE AND RECORDER ENSEMBLES

Students interested in the Penn Baroque and Record Ensembles should complete the Instrumental Ensemble Audition Sign-up Form at the bottom of this page. You will receive an email confirmation of your scheduled audition date and time after the webform is submitted.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: You will be asked to play 3-5 minutes of music of your choosing. Please prepare selections (which can be from the same piece) that contain at least two contrasting styles - i.e. both lyrical and technical. Memorization is not required.

PENN COLLEGIUM MUSICUM (formerly Ancient Voices)

OPERA WORKSHOP

ALL INTERESTED SINGERS (INCLUDING PAST MEMBERS):  Please check back here to fill out the Choral Ensembles Audition Sign-up Schedule as well as the Penn Choral Ensembles Audition Sign-up Form. DO NOT fill out the Instrumental Audition Form at the bottom of this page.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Please prepare a solo piece of your choice. Any song in any genre is fine. Pick something that you know well, so that you can demonstrate your vocal abilities. Singers who wish to be considered for the Penn Collegium Musicum should prepare part of an art song or aria if possible. We will also do some vocalizing to get to know your vocal range and timbre, as well as a short sight-reading excerpt. The audition will last about 10 minutes during the following dates and time:

PENN WIND ENSEMBLE

Students interested in the Penn Symphony Orchestra or Penn Wind Ensemble should complete the Instrumental Ensemble Audition Sign-up Form at the bottom of this page. You will receive an email confirmation of your scheduled audition date and time after the webform is submitted.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: You will be asked to play 3-5 minutes of music of your choosing. Please prepare selections (which can be from the same piece) that contain at least two contrasting styles - i.e. both lyrical and technical. Memorization is not required.

  • Returning string players of the PENN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA are NOT required to re-audition UNLESS you would like to be considered for the concertmaster chair or a section principal position.
  • All new or returning Wind/Brass players of the PENN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA are required to sign up for an audition.
  • Returning PENN WIND ENSEMBLE members are not required to re-audition.
