Squire Booker Named Richard Perry University Professor

Squire Booker

Squire Booker has been named Richard Perry University Professor, with appointments in the Department of Chemistry in Penn Arts & Sciences and the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics in the Perelman School of Medicine. Booker is a world-renowned interdisciplinary chemist whose research has wide implications for advancements in human health and innovative new treatments of disease.
 
An investigator in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 2015, Booker was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2019 and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2017. He comes to Penn from Penn State University, where he is currently Evan Pugh University Professor and Eberly Family Distinguished Professor of Science.
 
Booker’s appointment begins on Jan. 1, 2025. “I expect that he will lead an innovative interdisciplinary research program and will add great strength to the University’s commitment to advancing health,” says Steven J. Fluharty, Dean and Thomas S. Gates, Jr. Professor of Psychology, Pharmacology, and Neuroscience.
