The National Academy of Social Insurance announces Isabel M. Perera as the winner of the 2019 John Heinz Dissertation Award. Perera joins a prestigious and diverse network of over 40 previous Heinz Dissertation Award recipients, who are scholars in social insurance and closely related fields.

The American Society of Criminology has selected Marie Gottschalk’s book, Caught: The Prison State and the Lockdown of American Politics, as the winner of the 2018 Hindelang Award.  This is the ASC’s annual award for the book that makes the most outstanding contribution to research in criminology.

PhD student Zachary Smith has been awarded a 2018 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Fellowship, which he plans to use to fund field research in South Africa, the United Kingdom, France, Israel, and Algeria.
