Assistant Professor Dawn Teele, who studies gender and politics, was appointed the Janice and Julian Bers Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences.

The Penn Lightbulb Cafe hosts Professor Marie Gottschalk for a talk entitled “Dismantling the Carceral State: Law, Order and Criminal Justice Reform in the Age of Trump.” The lecture will be held today at World Cafe Live Upstairs beginning at 6PM.     

PhD Candidate Hajer Al-Faham receives 2017 Muslim Women's Justice Award through the Islamic Scholarship Fund.    

Professor Michael C. Horowitz discussed his research on the proliferation of weapons in multiple outlets last week, including a review of North Korea's nuclear success beyond the framework of tradional proliferation theories in the War On The Rocks and the spread of weaponized drones to militant groups in Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. He was also interviewed in The Dead Prussian Podcast about his book The Diffusion of Military Power.     

Professor Jeffrey Green's book, The Eyes of the People, is the topic of a newly released German edited volume, Okulare Demokratie: Der Bürger als Zuschauer, which includes ten papers on ocular democracy.
