Political Science senior James Sadler has been named one of nine College undergraduate Dean's Scholars for 2012-2013. This award is given annually by the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences for outstanding academic achievement.

Research on racial attitudes during the 2008 presidential campaign from Professor Diana Mutz and Seth Goldman, a post-doctoral fellow at Penn's Annenberg School for Communication, is featured on the New York Times' Opinionator Blog. The piece from Thomas Edsall is titled, "How Much Does Race Still Matter?"

The University of Pennsylvania has received a $25 million gift from alumnus Ronald O. Perelman to create the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics, which will provide a new home for Penn’s departments ofPolitical Science and Economics in theSchool of Arts and Sciences.

The Center will be located in the West Philadelphia Trust Building at 36th and Walnut streets in the heart of Penn’s campus.

Recent PhD graduate Rosella Cappella (2012), an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boston University and currently on leave as a Visiting Fellow at the Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College, published an op-ed titled "Strong Dollar, Strong Defense" in Footnote1, an online site dedicated to translating academic work for the general public.

The department is pleased to announce its winter and spring Political Science Workshops.  The workshops intend to bring energetic scholars engaged in substantively interesting and methodologically varied projects in the fields of comparative politics, American politics, political theory and international politics to a Penn audience.
