Tyler Leigh

Ph.D. Candidate in Political Communication

Tyler Leigh is a joint Political Communications doctoral student in the Annenberg School for Communication and the Political Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on political communication online, especially through social media. Current research interests include the transmission of (un)democratic ideals through social networks, polarization online, and how online political behavior relates to offline political behavior.

Leigh's past research has focused on the development of social capital through Facebook groups and the resulting consequences to political behavior, as well as research analyzing the effectiveness of civic education across different national contexts.

Leigh completed his Master's Degree in Education Policy for Global Development from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Oslo. His undergraduate degrees in International Affairs and African Political Development are from the University of Georgia.
