Course Description: 

Does not fulfill the Writing Requirement. This course will focus on the fundamentals of academic writing with the goal of sharpening students' critical reading and writing skills. We will pay special attention to reasoning, formulating, developing, and revising arguments and explanations. Emphasizing the basics of rhetoric, we will practice theorizing and writing for the various audiences and genres they will encounter in college and beyond. In addition, we will focus on finding and citing sources, and will consider some of the finer points of mechanics, usage, and style.
