Center City District Call for Summer Interns

The Center City District is seeking to hire summer college interns to provide them with a wide variety of hands-on experience in urban planning and development with a focus on park and place management. The experience will be both in the field and in the office with additional participation in professional development seminars conducted by CCD staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to CCD managed places and sponsored events:

  • Assisting the Research Department with Center City Surveys
    This involves conducting a variety of inventories and surveys, inputting and analyzing data, and producing a draft report on findings. Survey subjects may include:
    • Retail occupancy and trends in Center City;
    • Items related to transportation;
    • Use of CCD-managed parks;
    • Programs and events in CCD-managed parks;
    • Outdoor seating.
  • Assisting the Development Department with research and grant writing.

  • Assisting the Marketing Department with various tasks.
    • Social media;
    • Planning promotional follow-up telephone calls to retailers;
    • Collecting of retail photos and information for shopping section of website;
    • Compiling postcards, tear sheets and other advertising collateral for archives;
    • Assisting with various programs in CCD-managed parks;
    • Research/assignments relating to events planning for fall/winter.

Qualified Candidates:

  • Should have at least 1-2 years college class work in urban planning and development, marketing, tourism, and/or hospitality;
  • Be available to work days, evenings, and weekends depending upon the needs of the business;
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation including criminal history, child abuse clearance, drug screening, and reference check.

Physical Characteristics:

  • The position requires that the employee have the ability to sit, stand, walk for long durations, use of hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell, work in the outdoor elements such as extreme heat, humidity and/or rain, and lift up to 25 lbs.
