Penn-in-Havana Summer Abroad

Experience the complexity of contemporary Cuba through its contemporary art, architecture and visual culture!

This intensive summer travel course runs during Summer Session I and features 12 days on the island.  It requires that students maintain a Philadelphia residence through the end of June, 2016. While in Cuba, students will visit various artists' studios, collections, architectural monuments, and historical sites in the cities of Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, and the rural village of ViƱales.

Students will be asked to document these travel experiences digitally on Instagram (#penninhavana), and upon their return to the United States, they will be required to complete two written projects (a daily journal from the trip and a longer research essay).

There will be a second info session for Penn-in-Havana Summer Abroad (faculty director Prof. Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw) tomorrow, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 5 p.m. in Williams Hall 319. The course that accompanies the program is ARTH384: Cuban Visual Culture. Please stop by and learn more about this fantastic program!
