Project Coordinator, Al-Bustan

Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture is an Arab arts and education organization based in West Philadelphia. “Al-Bustan,” Arabic for “The Garden,” promotes cross-cultural understanding among youth and adults of all backgrounds, seeking to build peaceful and respectful paths for bridging differences, celebrating diversity, and fostering alternative ways of effecting positive social change.

Al-Bustan is seeking a Project Coordinator to plan and implement:
A. a public art installation titled “An Immigrants’ Alphabet” created by guest artists Wendy Ewald with Northeast High School students; and
B. a series of activities developed around the installation as part of an initiative titled “Tabadul: [Re]Presenting and [Ex]Changing Our America” – creating cultural exchange forums that activate public space and encourage cross-cultural dialogue around issues of immigration, exploring creative ways to represent and engage with the diversity and complexity of people who live in our city and country.
